This summer I’ve been treated to the delightful visits of frogs who have taken up residence on my porches. Three frog buddies love to hang out on my solar light each day, periodically leaping into my mint plant to catch the flies attracted to mint flowers. The other night, while reading a book chapter on amphibians, I was joined by a frog who decided to leap on my lap for some company! Each night, one lone frog, we call “piper,” appears at the water pipe leading to our porch hose. And on several of our chairs, we’ve had to place signs to warn people NOT to sit, or they might squish the frogs resting comfortably under the cushions. Yes, it’s been a summer of frog delights. – S Lee Scholder
Spring is in the air!
(post from S Lee Scholder)
Though things still have the look of Winter, there are definitely signs of Spring afoot.
- Looking out to my porch during breakfast, I was “treated” to the sight of squirrels mating on our fence.
- The two-toned “hey there” call of the chickadees has begun, as they seek out partners
- Dustball was here! Our neighbor’s cat made his first visit to our house last night — cat tracks everywhere!
How do you know that Spring is coming? What are the signs you are noticing?
